Default basic help please

Hi all,

I am trying learn how to use reason. To start I am trying to just record anything with the nn-xt. I can play notes and hear them back using my midi keyboard (oxygen 8), but nothing will record.
However, I can record notes using the pencil function so I know that I am pressing the right record buttons etc.

Any ideas why it is not recording when I play my midi keyboard though?

Any help much appreciated!

Ps In the bottom left where it has the NN-XT, there is an M and an S tab. Underneath that there is a bar that lights up green when recording, this doesn't light up when using the midi keyboard.

Hope someone can help, this is frustrating!!

Man, this has got to be something simple. Now, you have to select the nn-xt in the bottom left. You'll see the green light when you play a note. Now, you hit play button and the record button (or vice versa) and it should record. Is the play indicator moving when you hit the play button? Are the L and R indicators spaced out from each other? Make sure that the E (end) indicator is not all the way to the left.

Do you have the "record Enabled" button light up ? (red coloured ...)

(Its the button right under the "Lane 1" )

Yep. I've got nn-xt in sequencer, bottom left. NO green light when I play note, but I can hear them. Green light does light up on nn-xt itself on "note on".
I space my L alnd R indicators a couple of bars apart. E indicator is not all the way to the end. I press record, press play, hit some notes and hey presto, no recording.
BUT, if I switch to edit mode and hit some notes on the on screen keyboard, they do record!!

I'm sure it is something simple but I cannot work out what.

Not sure what "lane one" is, but if you mean the record next to play/stop/rewind/forward buttons, then yes I do

Man, I'm stumped right now, but I'll keep thinking on it. Got to be simple, something we've overlooked.

Hi Scez, my sequencer doesn't look like that, there is no lane.
I'm using Reason 3, is that why do you think?
