| Anyway Im kinda suprised this hasnt been posted here yet. I'm sure some of you reason fans will be excited for this, it's a new program called record by propellerhead. Its main concept, thats right, record audio, a much requested thing from reason fans. I know a couple of details about it, but still dont know everything, So I'll reserve my judgement. It'll be unveiled tommorow: Http://www.propellerhead.se They have a countdown on their front page. Also there was a youtube "leak" of someone at the producer conference where they showed it off for the first time, but it seems props was quick to get it off there. I saw it, it was very short and basically it was a guy describing the UI and how the mixer is based off how an SSL console looks. Nothing too amazing. EDIT: Just found a new link for the youtube vid that works. here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=855aToOvkd8 Last edited by _SG_; May 10th, 2009 at 11:09. |

Hmmm Im curious about the features init ... , to be honest it aint a world-shocking-announcement about the fact we can "record" now (Cos im recording as long i can remember since i have an pc) ... BUT the things theyve put in it could be worth an closer look. (Imagine theyre all "Thor"-ish .. And about that SSL ? The only ssl i know is Security Socket Layer , am i on the right path ? Well , if they're planning to release a demo ... im gonna give it a go ! |

Well, the ssl is top of the line stuff and I'm curious to see the new program. I wonder if they've just added the audio with no changes to the midi, or if they've added updates to the midi as well. Anyway, hope it doesn't cost too much. BTW, SG have you heard from titan? Haven't seen him around in a while. Joe |

(I cant confirm if this is indeed the pricing structure) Registered reason users - 150$ As a standalone product - 250$ Bundled with reason - 350$ (this one seems unlikely) As for titancow, nope haven't heard from him a long while, maybe hes just mostly lurking, like I do. |

Another video of record is upon us, Seems like it starts off where the youtube link starts off, but is in higher quality, and shares more details. here's the link: http://www.musotalk.de/software/vide...record-review/ edit: forgot to mention the vid is cut into two parts so you make sure on the tab called "teil 2" Last edited by _SG_; May 11th, 2009 at 01:00. |

I'm testing the beta right now, pretty rock solid so far. It's more complicated then reason, but still very similar, I caught onto the core of it pretty fast though, although there still might be more I dont know about it. The routing possibilities are as crazy as ever, and what's best is now you can have live audio being processed in all those crazy combis and effect patches. The new mixer console may be bit confusing to the average reason user, maybe at first, but once you play around with it you get the hang of it. The audio comping is also very nice addition, and the timestretching is great, one of the best timestretching algorithms I've ever heard. The only downside is that you cant stretch individual pieces of audio, or maybe I just haven't figured that out. Record can take use of multicore systems now, which is a huge plus. It can also trigger notes with a mouse click while in editing mode and you can now select up to four precount bars. On more note, you can't drag and drop audio files straight into record, which sucks, you have to use the menu to import them. Also you can't import a audio file in the mp3 format, but that's less of an issue for me since I mainly work in .wav I also tried out the ID8 instruments included with record and they're pretty good, nothing amazing but very usuable. I've also tried out the line 6 module and I'm personally impressed. Although I dont have a line 6 product so there's certain patches I can't use I guess. Overall I'm very happy with it, and I already know a couple of artists who aren't that technical but use reason, they would love this. I dont know if this is an automatic purchase though, I've already learned plenty of DAWs that have more features and are probably just as easy to use now that I've learned them. But the timestretching, routing, multicore support might be enough on its own lol. We'll see! |

Got the beta myself today ... nice features , though i only got one comment on it ... The timestreching feature .. , IF it could stretch single audiofiles without stretching the whole song , i consider to buy the program .. BUT , it doesnt do that .. it stretches the complete song ... a bummer in my opinion ... The reason why i only have one comment , is because i only played with the timestretch feature till now .. , interface is a bit `different` , so need to figure out some things ... As for now , it gets a -6 out of 10 ... |

As far as only wanting to timestretch one element of a song goes, couldn't you just create a new project, import the audio you wanna stretch, stretch it, save it and then export/import into the original project?
