Default How to overwrite without hear it ?

This is a really basic question I think but is something I just can't figure out:

I have mapped the record, fwd, back, play keys to the reason from my keyboard, and what I am trying to do is just to start recording from the keyboard without hearing what I have previously recorded. How can I do that ?

Thanks.

pd: sorry for such a basic question...

You could set up a new identical sequencer to overwrite and mute the first one. Then when finished, make them into one. If that's what you're asking, really not sure.

What I want is to use reason for practicing on the keyboard, and record what I play, but usually I just press rewind and record again, but reason Plays what I recorded while recording the new take. What I want is just record without hearing what was recorded previously.

that should be easy

Okay, now I think I know what you want. Look right below the record button and you will see an "override/replace" button. Set it for "replace." That's the ticket!

I don't have that button, I am using Reason 4.0 on Mac, and my transport panel doesn't have it, so I went to the manual and it is not there either

Press the "new alt" button that's on the right side of the record button. If you want to do this on the fly, just right click the button and select edit remote overide then map it to a control on your keyboard.

That's about as close as you're gonna get to comping takes in reason, new alt (new alternative take) automatically creates a new note lane, and mutes the previous note lane, all without stopping the recording process.

Whats kinda ironic is I just learned today that "Record", the new propellerhead program will have comping in it, at least in audio. So you might want to look into that.
