do i need a midi board?

i tried everything with my reason settings, my computer settings and my axiom 25 settings but it still doesn't seem to be recording any midi. i can hear the sound being produced but i can't record on reason or sonar with a reason patch, does this have something to do with the fact that i have a very basic sound card? do i need to have a sound card with midid input and output? i'm using firewire at the moment

I dont think that has something to do with your sound card.. did you armed the track for recording? Heres what i think you should do..

1) Arm your track for recording..


Make sure that button is red, and the little keyboard also appears, just like in the photo...


2) Press Record, then press Play, and start playing your keyboard...




Also, make sure that the devices are connected in the right way..

Thanks so much mate for the detailed reply, but unfortunately it still is not working. I'm going back to the place I got the Reason and the keyboard see if they can work it out. Will post you the result.
