Default does rewire allow reason to use memory beyong the hosts 2GB limit in 32 bit systems ?

hi..

how do i make Reason (via rewire) access additional memory separate to the host application (samplitude in my case) ?

i have 4GB of RAM installed but reason still bombs out loading samples at the same point as when i had 2GB installed so it's obviously not accessing the remaining 1.5GB of ram that the system recognises..

how do i get Reason to access more RAM beyond the 2GB assigned to the host application ?

thanks..

It probably has more to do with a computer problem rather than a Reason problem. On a pc with windows xp, go to your control panel and select "system." There, you will see how much ram your pc has. I think your pc will only recognize 3.5 gb of ram on a 32 bit system. If you see all the ram, then it might have something to do with the way your daw is set up.

yes i have 3.5GB recognized in windows..

but if it is the DAW (host application) causing this limitation, then apart from enabling/disabling Rewire there are no other config options to play with...

i'd be interested if anyone can confirm if it's even possible..

is anybody using Reason via Rewire with Cubase or Sonar etc in 32bit Windows and accessing RAM beyond the 2GB limit of the host app ?

i can do it if i load both my DAW and Reason as independant apps (no rewire linking them together) but as soon as rewire is used the combined limit of the two apps is 2GB... about 1GB less than without rewire...

so in the end it appears to work just like any other VSTi which is not the impression i was under..

can anyone confirm ?

thanks.
