Default Basic Wiring

I'm new to daw's and music in general, my background is in graphic design and I've decided it may be fun to play with this stuff.

That said, I've realized having little knowledge of music and the terminology doesn't help much.

I've learned a lot recently about what each rack component can do, but I'm struggling with how and what ways to wore them together, sure Reason will automate it, but every time I want to do something different I have to rewire and it usually doesn't work.

For instance, I wanted to send a drum beat to the vocoder and have the synth be the carrier but I can't follow the tutorial on youtube.

My question, where do I find basic info on wiring and how these things work...any info out there on how each component works together?

Thanks

Hi SpacelySprockets !

Take a look @ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E0SE2AnEdaE&hl=nl

The technique you were searching for is called : Sidechaining ...

(Hmmm seems ive read your Q in a wrong way ... i thought youve said : cant find the tutorial on youtube ... was a bit to fast i think ...)

But if you want to learn anything bout wiring etc . My advise is to take a look into some books ... (for example : Reason 3 Overdrive ... )

(Ive uploaded a rns file with a simple Sidechain-setup ... just use this one to check some thing out ..)

Grab the rns overhere :

Good luck !
