it's probably some minor thing you've overlooked. Things to try: 1) What have you chosen for your audio output? Go edit>prefs>audio and look at "audio card driver." It's best to choose asio. 2) Did you set up your keyboard in the "control surfaces and keyboard?" Go edit>pref's>audio surfaces and keyboards. Follow the instructions in the manual to set up your keyboard. 3) You don't need to midi back in to your keyboard. Just go midi out, or usb out into your computer. 4) If you're on a pc, go into device manager and see if your pc is recognizing your keyboard. Don't know how to do this on a mac. 1) I had it set to MME M-Audio Revo but I changed to just plain ASIO without the Revo part in it and I have sound from the pre-programmed demo song now. 2) It shows a Korg keyboard and it says it's checked to use with Reason. I've setup the keyboard as best I know for Midi. I mean, the settings consist of choose a Midi channel (which I have at the default 1), do I want the internal synth enabled or disabled (says it would just make it echo but I hear nothing from the PC as an input from the synth), and do I want to adjust the clock to external, internal or auto. None of these settings really seems like it should matter to this thing working... 3) I tried this and had no different results. 4) I have absolutely no idea how to check. Nothing in the device manager looks like a synthesizer but I dunno if it's not one of the things under the USB Controllers tab. Where would I need to go to actually record the sound from the keyboard - I suppose I could just not be in the right area or something. Thanks for the help thusfar! If it matters the cable is a E-MU 1X1 and the USB powered light is on but neither of those Midi in or out lights are on no matter what I do... |

Okay, well I won't mention the cause because I feel pretty dumb seeing the simplicity of the problem...Anyways, one thing I am still having trouble with is getting the program to send anything to my microKorg. It takes the input from it fine but I can't make it output and I have the channel on the microKorg set to 1 but don't see where I can change any of it or set it up to play a sample from the program on the synthesizer. Can anyone help me on that bit? I have it working for the most part though.

All you need to do is midi or usb out into your pc. You can't midi out back into your keyboard. You should be able to see your keyboard in the device manager under "sound and video controllers" (or something like that). Also, in Reason, did you do the "find" thing under "keyboards and controllers?" This is where you select "edit" for your keyboard that is shown in this window (keyboard and controllers). Once you select edit, hit the find button. If you don't see the green led flash, then Reason does not recognize it. So, when you hit a key on your keyboard, you're not getting any sound? Bigger problem just came up, now when I open the demo it says my sound card driver stopped working. Which is BS, because I was just listening to and can still listen to music and other sound on my PC. I tell it the ASIO 4 All and it acts like it works fine gives me a green check, then it changes back to No Sound and says there is an error. I am really being discouraged by this program...It's too bad too because I like the setup. I have no idea what it wants but I'm not reinstalling my drivers for this program. The FL Studio demo still works fine, it's just Reason that's not working now. I have changed absolutely nothing, any idea what this could be?

Don't know, but if it were me, I'd reinstall Reason. Too bad you're having these problems. Most people do not have these issues. I wouldn't give up yet, Reason is a very powerful and flexible program. Joe |

Apparently the Asio 4 ALL drivers stopped working but when I went to the M-Audio driver it works again. Strange. Not to worry though, I'm really like Reason way more than the rest as of now. FL Studio I have no idea how to make instruments or sounds in and despite looking pretty it's pretty useless to me since I can't get cool effects or anything easily. I tried Adobe Audition and I can't even make it do anything. Honestly, who are these audio programs made for? So many of them make no sense at all even with help... So is the cheapest version of Reason so bad that the next step up is completely worth it? I would plan to make music via a synthesizer and record it onto the computer and mainly use the VSTis...What would you recommend? |
