Recording into reason?

Hey there, im not new but at the same time i am.
I was wondering if there's anyway to record guitar or bass... then input it into reason... the guitar chords in the nn-xt are just so boring and long... i really cant take it anymore. My friend (who is german and knows the program like a god did it) and i was wondering how he did it? I can't get a hold of him anymore, he moved away.
