Exclamation Drums Multi-out........plz help

Hi all,
I am new useing reason but one thing that i wanted to do was have my drums use multi-outs in some way ie;
Bass Drum on it's own mixer chan
Snare drum on it's own mixer chan
i want to be able to compress the bass drum seperately to have more punch than the rest of the drum and perc sounds.
I know that i am not putting this exactly right but i pretty much want to have my drums really "hit hard!" and i know i have to start with good sounds 1st.
Please and thx

Having mutiple outs is possible, but it depends on your soundcard. If your soundcard is capable of mlti outs, then go Edit>Preferences>Audio>Channels. You will see what outputs are available. Check the ones that you want to use. Then you will have to wire the correct cables to the interface. Here's how I do it. I have an Echo Mia soundcard with two anolog outs and two spdif outs. Using Redrum, I pan the kick hard left and send it to the interface channels one and two. Then, I pan the snare hard left and send it to the interface channels 3 and 4. I then pan the toms hard left and send them to a mixer. I then run the mixer main outs to the interface channels 5 and 6. Next I pan the cymbals hard right and send them to another mixer. I then send the outs of mixer number 2 to channels 7 and 8.

You will have to set your sound card up. Here is how I do it. My sound card has anolog outsd and digital outs. In anolog, the kick is in the left side of the soundcard and the snare is in the right. I have the digital channels muted. In digital outs, the toms are on the left and the cymbals are on the right. The anolog outs are muted. This might be confusing, but it works for me. I have four seperate outs: 1 kick 2 snare 3 toms 4 cymbals.

I think that I'm going to save this so next time someone asks, I'll just paste it.

Joe
