Unhappy NordLead 2x/Reason 4, ?'s

First off. I'm clearly very new to MIDI & Reason 4.

That aside. I bought a NordLead 2X with hopes that it would work as MIDI controller for Reason 4 on my MacBook Pro. It doesn't. Something to do with Reason no doing MIDI Out (this is what another person has explained to me on another forum). I have resolved to purchase an interface to help facilitate this.

I would love to get an interface that would also allow me to record the sounds from my NordLead on to reason as well as allow me to control its the Reason sounds/synth.

Can anyone suggest an interface for this.

Thx to anyone who takes the time to shed some light on my problem. K

Well, I'm sorry to tell you that reason doesn't record audio in, you'll have to use another program to record your nordlead's audio.

And most interfaces (as long as they have midi in and midi out ports) will be detected in reason. A pretty inexpensive and portable solution would be m audio's usb or firewire interfaces.

To use your controller with Reason simply midi out, or usb out from your controller into Reason. Then go into preferences from the edit toolbar and set it up to receive the keyboard/controller. Reason does not send midi out, but you don't need that. No keyboard can directly record into Reason. Can't be done. You would need to record into a daw for that and then use the rewire funtion of Reason. I'm not familiar with Nord, but it is a nice unit from what I've been told. Just go midi out or usb out into Reason.

SG and I posted at the same time lol !

Right... Umm. Ok, quick question.

Despite Reasons inability to record audio in I would still like to purchase an interface that would allow the most versatility, i.e. has MIDI ports as well as ports for a mixer/live sound instruments.

I'm not too concerned with portable hardware. Its not necessary.

Any suggestions.

Hey thanks a bundle. At first I didn't know what the hell you we're talking about then while viewing this tutorial on youtube I noticed that in the PC side of reason 4 the preferences were in the edit tol bar. I really couldn't figure out why mine didnt have that. Anywho, Im up and running and I didnt have to buy a new interface or anything. Thanks.
