| I have an M-audio Axiom 25 and Reason 4. I'm trying to get the keys to play a synth and the pads to play ReDrum. As is, I have to select one or the other (the synth or redrum) in order to use it, I can't use both at the same time. I searched here and found one thread (www_reasonforum_com/reason/392-control-multiple-reason-devices-one-midi_html) about controlling multiple devices with one midi keyboard using Combinator. That works, but since the trigger pads on my axiom also play notes on the synth when its selected, the pads play two devices; I only want it to play redrum. I found some help on the M-audio forum (forums_m-audio_com/showthread_php?t=1612). The keys on the axiom transmit on midi channel 1 and the pads on channel 10. They say to use the hardware interface at the top of Reason Rack to assign the channels to different devices. On my reason rack the synth is on channel 1 and redrum is on channel 2. if i move the redrum cord to any other channel (including 10) it won't work. So I don't know what to do. *links altered to bypass spam filter Thanks much rlnoob |

In the arrangment, make sure that combinator track is selected and that you see the icon for midi. you can separate many instruments comfortably this way. |

So did this work? I'm attempting the same thing. However, it seems I need to alter the presets on the Axiom to change the default note value of the percussion pads to say the lowest values. As it stands the default is set to c2, which interferes with any synth I want to control at the same time.

You can also adjust a transposition in the combinator programmer! For example, you want to play your redrum in a keyzone at octave 4, but Redrum drums are triggeres at octave 2 (not sure, is it 2?). So define the keyzone for octave 4 like flatliquit described and adjust a transposition of -24 semitones. This will transpose all recieved notes from octave 4 to 2 before they're send to the redrum.

So pardon my newbdom, but I'm not totally following you. I understand how to set the keyzones in the programmer window, but perhaps you could explain in a little greater detail just how to make the rex files trigger on the keyzone I selected. (see photo below) ![]() at any rate the axiom keyboards percussion pads send a #c2 thru #c3 midi note signal. So I will need to change them to send a #c-2 thru #c-1. I hope I haven'te totally missed what was said early in this thread, but I still need a little help to figure this out. Last edited by RclarkEMT; April 24th, 2009 at 21:47. |
