Default Monitoring with reason

Hey guys,

i currently use reason 4 and was wondering if there was any way to send 2 different outputs with different instruments. For example, send a redrum to output 1 and a thor track to output 2. I use an edirol FA-66 which has multiple outputs.

I wanna do this so i can send just a kick drum to my drummer's heaphones so he can stay in time. I dont want the kick drum to be output to anywhere else other than the headphones.

I know that i can do this by rewiring through ableton but unfortuneatly i cannot afford to buy it at the moment.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Yes, I do this all the time. If you have multiple outs on your sound card, go to PREFERENCES>AUDIO>CHANNELS. From there, check all the channels that you want to use as sends. I use an Echo Mia sound card with two anolog outs and two spdif's. By panning L/R, I can get four separate outputs. You'll have to assign the outputs of your processors to whatever channels on the Reason interface you want to use. I'm not familiar with the edirol, so I can't tell you exactly how this is done with your set up, but it can be done.

If this is confussing to you, let me know and I'll explain in more detail.

if your sound card can output to more than two channels then simply route the audio with the kickdrum to 3and 4 of the virtual sound card at the top of reasonand use 1 and 2 for your left and right.. otherwise send the kick out of left and use the right channel. its really not worth it if you only have two channels though.
