Default Midi Keyboard Controller and Reason 4

M-AUDIO KEYRIG 25 USB MIDI CONTROLLER KEYBOARD

I am so new to all this and am wondering if this keyboard would work fine. It seem as if it is the right price. Also, can I simple go USB into the computer and there is no need for me to buy any kind of midi interface?

Thanks a bunch

Just hook up via usb and you'll be good to go. Make sure that you've installed your keyboard drivers if applicable.

unless your soundcard has a midi-in port, you can't do it any other way. and it's only sending midi signals, not actual audio, so it doesn't really affect it. if you want to get the patches include in a keyboard you can connect it to your mic-in port and then record it and import it through nnxt

Default which one?

hi, am in a kinda similar situation but i'm stuck between choosing which one to buy, the Key rig 25, or Oxygen 8 25, both from M audio and both at around the same price (though key rig is about £5 more).
i've tried comparing them both online and they both have the same features apart from that the key rig has a volume slider..

could someone help explain the difference between these two products as it seems strange how M audio has two products so similar..

thanks!

Here is a good thing to know: audio data does not go over MIDI - it's all control data.
