Default Settting redrum to only play certain bars.

Hi everyone. I am brand new here, so bear with me. My question may have been asked before, but I didnt see it.

I am making a song right now and as I created it I simply put 4 bars on loop. Now I am ready to stretch it into a full song, but redrum is giving me some grief.

I Want the first bar to be a drumless intro. I want the main instuments to play before the drums kick in. But for instance, I set my snare up by picking a sample and making it play on 5 and 13. When use redrum like this without my keyboard, I have trouble editing it in the final process. I don't know how to set it up so I can have certain parts drumless. I want the intro to be synths and bass and I would also like to add some drum breaks in.

I want to learn how to shush all the drums, but for the sake of this post say I am simply trying to get the snare to play on 5 and 13 starting at the fifth bar and ending a few bars before the song ends. How do I set this up? I right clicked and went to "insert bars between locaters" and as I was penciling it in i thought it was the right thing to do, but now I cant even figure out how to get my snare to play at all. It is no longer giving any output.

Thanks!!

I think i figured it out. I have to convert redrum to notes then I can control when it plays.

Yep, that's how I do it.

But also I know some people like to actually automate their drum patterns, so you can just automate to a pattern that's blank also. I'd rather just copy pattern to track so I can edit away if I choose to on the sequencer and still keep my original pattern.

Yeah, another way to do it, as SG was saying.. Is to right click on the redrum rack and select "copy pattern to track" and that will take whatever pattern u've created in redrum and have displayed at the moment, and send it to the sequencer in between your start and end Loop markers..
