| For a project I'm in, I've been transferring Reason files from my computer (running 2.5) to a laptop running 3.0. On the redrum -- if I automate the patterns on mine (calling up the patterns ie A1, B4, whenever it switches to a new pattern, it drops "on the one". On the laptop (3.0), whenever the redrum calls up a new pattern, it drops wherever the portion of the beat that lines up with the songs (not on the one). Is this a just difference between the versions, and is there any way to toggle between these two modes? Thanks! |

I've been asking this question on a couple of forums. Here's a more detailed explanation of the problem: Basically, if I have a Reason file in 2.5, I'd like it to play the same way when loaded on 3.0. Right now, I can write beats in 2.5 that I can't use when moved to 3.0. There are a bunch of ways to organize beats with the redrum. Until recently, I sequenced everything by copying everything to the tracks and rearranging the drum hits themselves. Recently, I've started automating the redrum by calling up different patterns (A1, B4, whatever) in the sequencing view. (A fun way to program, BTW.) Let's say that I'm organizing an eight bar beat out of eight bar patterns and I lay it out like this: 1---2---3---4---5---6---7---8 A1-----B2-----------D8-------- In both 2.5 and 3.0, it will bring up a pattern whenever the sequencer calls for it. In 2.5 -- when the song hits the third beat, it will bring up "B2" on the FIRST beat of B2. In 3.0 -- when the song hits the third beat, it will bring up "B2" on the THIRD beat of B2. I'm really hoping that there's a setting somewhere than can toggle between these two modes. Was this a change from one version to the next, or is there some way that I can control this? YES, I realize that I could just sequence the drum hits like I used to and everything will work fine. I just really enjoy this new (to me) way of arranging beats and if I take the time to organize something good on my computer, I'd like to move it to the laptop for live performance. As far as running a 2.5 file on 3.0, everything else worked well with no hassle, it's just this one pretty critical snag. Help? |

Yeah, I'll probably upgrade at some point, but I'm stuck with it for now. My computer's pretty old, and it still works well.

Yeah, that's very strange, I wish I could help but I started using reason at 3.0 By the way, how old is your pc? What's the specs of it? I use version 4.0 now but I ran 3.0 (with good results) on some pretty shitty computers before lol. |

I have an old (2002-2003) dual processor power mac desktop. The processors aren't even 1 GHz! It's been great, but ever since the last time when I updated the OS and had to go digging through my closet for long lost registration codes so my software would work, I vowed to leave it "as is". I took the computer offline and mostly use it to make backing tracks for my live guitar and DJ project. It will be nice to get into some newer software eventually, but I'm doing fine with my current rig for what I'm doing right now. I'd just really like to figure this glitch out.
