Default reason questions from beginner (redrum)

I'm using the 'redrum computer', connected to my electronic drumlkit and it works fine. Sounds great.

However I have a couple of questions:

1. Is it possible to assign my snare pad to 2 or 3 difference 'patches' (is that the right term?) and have it randomize between the 3 each time I hit that drum. I'm thinking of 3 different snare sounds for the same snare drum.

2. The mapping of the drums is 90% perfect (ie kick pedal is kick drum, snare pad is snare etc) - but how do I go about changing one of the inputs to a different sound?

Many thanks in advance!

1. This is not easy, but possible. I'd load the snare into a NN-XT sampler. There you can set up velocity zones for all samples. You could set the zones so, that every snare has a different velocity range. Working with real random would be more complicated.

2. not sure, if I understood your question correctly. Every channel has an open file button at the top. You can use them to load other samples into the channels.

I don't think that you can have one pad play more than one track at a time. The way mine works is that each drum track is assigned a midi number, track one is 34, track 2 is 35 and so on. You can assign whatever pad you want to the different tracks, but I don't see how you can assign one pad to more than one drum track. The only way that I can see this happening is to somehow make the assignments in whatever drum processor that you're using.

1) It'd be a LOT easier just to manually edit this in the sequencer, with a new redrum for each snare sound you want. I.e Redrum one for the whole drum kit, Redrum two for any additional samples you want.

2) Like IGoa said each redrum channel has an open sample browser. Use this

if your trying to get a more 'live' sound then iGoA's option of using the NN-XT sampler that way you get diffent samples the harder you hit (like how you get diffent sounds from an acousic drum) i often use the NN-XT for drums - it means building a 'kit' but once you got it done just combine 'em

That is exactly what I do when I want a superbad snare and somtimes bass drum sound. Stack up as many ReDrum kits as you want. Sometimes add a lighter snare drum sound to one that is different and use on as an accent. For a Bass drum sound I sometimes use the same sound and detune one. Using three you can pan each one slightly different. Very fat sound. For electronic kits I midi everything thru and write parts on my roland td module and use the midi file to play whatever sound/VST I want.

I think that it is not possible to play one pad play one track at a time. All the MIDI track assigned different number so only push the pad at a time. you can not play multiple pad at a time it is difficult to play multiple pad. This functionality possible only electronic drum kit.
