| Barack Obama has been elected president of united states! To some of you who may not live in the states it may not be a big deal, but to me it signifies a great achievement and true progress in american society. This day is a historic day, and I'm so proud of what we have done as a country. Last edited by _SG_; November 5th, 2008 at 04:51. |

Thank fuck for that aye ive been losing sleep over what the state of the worlds gonna turn to if McCain got in... and if there was any hope with him it would be completely flushed down the shitter if he died and Palin took the reigns. Finally the Fundamentalist Christians are out of the whitehouse. Finally someone who is an intelligent, levelheaded, reasonable person is the most powerful person in the world. Finally someone who has their finger on the button, will use diplomacy and compromise before pressing it.

Yes! Here in Europe all the media and politicians are very pleased about Obama as the new president. This is a blatantly obvious sign into the direction of Bush and McCain. The elections in the USA never attracted that much attention in the media here before. It's all because, we all hate Bush and his followers and hoped, that a change would come. OK, maybe Obama will not or cannot change as much as we want, but his election is a very good sign. |

Good to hear about him legalizing stem cell research! None of the other presidents had the guts to do that.

Its great that bush is out and McCain is not in. However i think people are overeacting abit when it comes to Obama celebrations. He is still going to be the same sort of president we've seen for the last few decades. America will continue its imperialism around the world, and indeed obama already states that he plans to amp up the war in afghanistan. The poor in america will remain poor, the rich will continue to get richer, and big businesses will still be making millions as they rip off workers, profit from death and pollute the world. Having an african american in the white house is a massive symbolic step. but what it will mean in real terms for the lives of african americans is still to be seen, and as far as i can guess, many will be dissapointed. |

lol yaeh ur right, and unfortunately not all of what Obama says will come true. the U.S. is still pretty darn corrupt, and still too many people abuse the freedom that our country provides. All we can do is strive for something better, and thats hopefully what we'll do in the next 4 years
