| ''use the search function for re-wire questions'' since there are some many people having trouble with it. But i watch all the tutorials, and i checked out SO many forums...that im starting to get the idea that my problem is something *new*. I work with Reason 4 and Ableton 6, so i was like ''Let's Re-wire them!'' and so i started up Ableton, started up Reason. Created a MIDI track in Ableton and linked it to a instrument in Reason. The midi bar is flipping on and off when i hit my midi keyboard so the signal is coming in ( or out ). And the volume bar of the channel even moves up and down when i push it...But o dont hear anything ! I tryed a lot of tutorials al with trouble... After a while i found one that gave me sound, but i could only record Audio in Ableton with that option...and i want it done MIDI. But even when i had everything right with the audio rewire...there was something weird. for instance: I could arm the audio track rewired to NNXT, that was rewired to ableton without trouble and i could even hear and play the notes. But when i created a NEW ''audio'' or ''midi'' channel to rewire ''lets say'' a Malstrom''. somehow it kept playing the NNXT sound underneath the malstrom. So i armed the malstrom midi or audio channel, but i could still hear the NNXT... As you can see i totally lost it and i must say...i have been in music for 2 years ( including hardware stuff ) but i CAN't solve this :S... hope some of you guys are willing to read this / help me... Thnx, Greetz, Mories... |

So basically you don't want both of reason devices to play at once? Well it seems to be pretty simple, even though both midi tracks are routed to different devices in reason, they're still receiving midi data from your keyboard at the same time. So when you have your midi tracks set on "audio" in ableton it should only send midi data to the track that's armed for recording. If for some reason that's not happening you could always set the previous midi track's input (in ableton it's you do this with the dropdown boxes) to receive no input at all. |

Hey Thnx ! That sounds good and logic... But what about the audio ? in a tutorial on the ableton website...They say: Start up ableton, start up reason, create an instrument, set the midi channel to reason, select the instrument from the drop down box, start playing ! If i do that...the midi volume channel does show me there is some action. But i dont hear anything :S.. |

1.Create the audio track. 2. In the first dropdown box select your audio input, in this case it's going to be reason. ![]() 3. In the second drop down box select which channel your reason device is hooked up to, if all your devices in reason are going to one main mixer just pick "1/2 Mix L, Mix R" input. ![]() 4. Under the monitor section select "in" ![]() After that if you've set up your midi and audio tracks right everything from there on should be smooth sailing. |

It's no problem, I love helping others when I can. I do mainly hiphop, but I dabble in other genres too. I also record some local rap artists. Hopefully I'll be able to branch out and get involved in recording for other genres too. |
