Question rsn file, need the nerdy info on this

hi,

i need some info on rsn files. i'm recovering a friend's hard drive, and the only way to restore files, is to do a hex search on the raw drive.
i already found the header of the file by examining some other rsn's: all start with "Propellerheads Reason Song File". i'm running a search on the drive now, and i already found about 60 files.
now i need to figure out where the file length is or how i can determine the file end.

i am working with millions of sectors of hex values.

any suggestions?

thx

would it help if i opened an rns file in a hex editor and looked for the end, see if they both match and come back to you?

i remember someone (i think it was igoa) tried to edit the hex files so that the tempo would be displayed next to the file name. but if you changed one value you changed the whole thing. so maybe it's encrypted?

Yes, i was TRYING to explore the RNS-format, but it seems to be compressed or encrypted. In an uncompressed/plain format there should be only one value changed, when you change the one value in the program. This is not the case with reason. When you change one value (let it be tempo or any knob oder fader) and save your file again, it looks totally different. Until you don't know, what propellerhead exactly does, there's no chance to get any information out of the file except the header.
