Default Reason and hardware synth

Hey everybody, I'm new here and new to reason (been using mpcs to sequence) and I've got a question. I love the reason sounds (running 2.5), but I want to use the sounds from my micron keyboard and sequence on the mac. I know I've got the settings right on the micron because it has always worked fine with the mpc.

I ran across a video on youtube titled something like "how to sequence in reason using hardware synths" but the person was using a PC and right-clicking nn-xt's on the sequencing screen to delete them, then telling me to assign them to corresponding midi channels (without showing how that is done). If anybody could possibly give me the steps I need to assign the channels from my micron to the channels on reason and play back and sequence the micron's sounds i would appreciate it so much.

Reason can't record external audio. You're better off using something called rewire. What that'll do is link reason's audio and midi channels to an host DAW. You can use that DAW to record your micron's sounds and at the same time use reason's devices.

Read up on DAWs and rewire, especially if you plan on recording audio alot.

Well, I was planning on recording the audio out of the keyboard to a seperate recording machine, one that would not be synched to reason. i just want to playback the midi information that i've written to reason via my keyboard, which, for all reason knows is just a controller. i used to have cakewalk and used it with an old yamaha module. i was able to assign channel 1, 2, etc. on the module and play back the midi dots from cakewalk, thus triggering the sounds from the channels in my sound module... that's what i'm trying to do with reason. does that make sense? thanks for responding so fast, btw.

Sorry I must of read your question wrong.

Are you simply asking if your recorded midi in reason can trigger your external micron?

That's a problem with Reason. You cannot get Audio into it and you cannot get MIDI out of it. So Reason will be unable to send back the necessary MIDI data to your keyboard.
