Default New to this and really need help!!!!!

Hi Guys,

OS - Vista Home Premium

I have purchased an M-Audio OXYGEN pro 61. I am running it on a powerful laptop with an Realtek HD Audio soundchip and Reason 4

I was hoping that you could help me, I am totally new to this. I have all the basics but I have major problems with setting this up.

I have set up the Oxygen as instructed and also loaded the software drivers. My problem is I have no sound.

I have downloaded ASIO4all as recommended by a friend and when I select that in the edit menu I have signal but no sound. When I go back to the primary I have sound (latency is dreadful though) coming through the phones.

After investigating I have found out that there are problems with Realtek and ASIO. I just need a solution, Someone told me I have to disable Realtek in order to use ASIO? ???????

I don't know what I am doing and really need help, I have used this forum as a learning tool and now really need some help myself.

If someone more experienced could help a real beginner to explaining how to do this I would be forever grateful.

I need step by step instructions as my experience is very small.

Thanks in advance for any help received

Rocco

Ps someone also mentioned something about Rebirth

have a look at this page. the title implies that versions before asio4allv2 didn't work with realtek on vista. try gettting asio4allv2 and installing that and see how that works.

Hi TC,

Thanks for this but I am already using V2 of ASIO4all. I have a friend who uses reason (reason why I bought it, if you excuse the pun) and helps with a few things.

But we are stumped.

Regards

Rocco

I own a notebook with realtek HD audio and I had problems with ASIO4All, too! When you open the ASIO4All config, you maybe will see, that it shows you a problem. Something like "no device found" or similar stuff.
The solution in MY case was, that I had to install the realtek HD drivers from the notebook manufactorer (ASUS) and NOT the drivers directly from realtek. Maybe this is the case for you, too?

Haha! Same thing with my Dell... had it in the back of my mind... apparently only the LG drivers for my particular soundcard would enable stereo mix. Actually I only had to open a dll file and change a 0 to 1.

Now I'm using a Creative Sound Blaster NX 2 USB, very sexeh.
