Default Effectively play with samples?

For crying out loud, I love this piece of software but I'm so pissed at it at the same time.

If only there was something else than shitty dr.rex or nnxt to play with samples (that must be sampled through recycle which a real crack in the ass)

I'm starting my learning on ableton just for this sheer fact, it's a real piss-off

anyone has a good way-around? rewire i guess?

Yes, rewire would be the most effective way for sampling with reason.

I have only used reason, never used any other program, i am also unsure of how too rewire, but i will look that up before i ask questions about it!!!!

Well reaper if a fairly young but very capable DAW for sampling, recording, and composing. And it has a non crippling trail (no matter how much you use the demo it'll never run out and it doesn't restrict any features). It's also very inexpensive. $50 dollars for an non-commercial license and $225 for a commercial one. And it's community forums are very responsive and helpful.
Read more about it here:
http://reaper.fm

Also there's more expensive DAWs like ableton live, sonar 7, logic 8 (you need a mac for logic), protools and cubase. So download some demos of these daws, and see which one you're most comfortable with. If you're only looking for rewire and don't really want a whole new music production program to use, then reaper might be your best bet.

that was a great answer, i'll definitely give REAPER a try!

Is it less memory-heavy than the likes of Ableton? Because opening reason et abelton at the same time is kind of a hassle even for my reasonable computer.

another piss-off right now though, is that, for some unexplainable reason, Ableton just doesn't want to rewire reason anymore.. used to work, but out of nowhere it just stopped working.. anything to say about that? lol

Reaper's install file is like 3mb and it can be ran off a tiny flash drive, so it shouldnt be a resource hog at all.

Also if you're rewiring everything correctly for your DAW, then your rewire.dll in C:/WINDOWS/sytem32/ folder may be corrupt. You can either replace the .dll file with one that isn't or reinstall reason to try to fix that. That might be the problem, I can't be sure.

I'll try it when i make it back home!

Let's hope that .dll file also fixes the skipping problem i also have with Reason..
For some unknown reason once again, reason just skips a few seconds of songs when i let them play.. The red clipping output indicator in the bottom corner is on even when Reason is the only program running.. My computer is very decent, it doesn't make any sense.

I'm guessing/hoping it would be due to a corrupt .dll.. =P

The clip thing isn't to do with performance, it's to do with sound. If you're amplifiying sound eventually it'll max out and will be squashed into the space available, making it square, distorted, digital... generally not wanted. Check your peak levels.

But it it's always on then it might be a problem with reason, probably the best thing to do would be to re-install IMO

You're saying that it has to do with peaks? I think you misunderstood what i said, it's not about amplification or sound level, there's no problem there.
Sounds are crystal clear, it's the sequencer that skips a few sequences of the song here and then for some reason

say i'm in Bar 1, from some reason, a few instants before going into bar 2, Reason will skip just a few milliseconds, ruining the loop/flow of the song.. that's only during playback, not after the song is exported.

But try to play notes and staying in tempo when the beat skipps for no reason and in no predicted times lol.. very, very, very frustrating
