H E L P Reason/Edirol USB controller

I have a G4, with MBox 1, protools 6 LE (I think), Reason 2.4 with a USB Edirol controller. I can't make the drum sounds work in the drum machine. I have no midi on my G4, does the USB over ride the midi, or do I need a midi port in my G4?
