Default Static-ey Pauses? Interruptions?.. Again, not quite sure what to call em haha

I'm trying to get a similar sound to what Justice get in a lot of their songs where it soudns like they've almost stretched the the sound of a snare hit and drawn it out over like half a second or so and it seems to cut everything else out while its happening. They tend to use it once they have already repeated a riff a few times and it tends to keep you interested in the riff coz it zazzes it up a bit. Can be found in the song "Newjack" among others.

Danger also use it liberally in the song "19h11".. probably a little too much but hey he doesnt tell me how to do my job haha

I'm at work now so if no-one knows what the hell im talking about (fair enough i'm being pretty vague) I'll post some track times up.

Are you talking about sidechain compression? Sorry if you aren't.

Well to stretch out the snare, you can do that in the NNXT or NN19... can't explain exactly how to do that because I don't have Reason on this computer atm. As for the snare making everything else quieter, that would either be done through Velocity or, yes, side chain compression... but I'm still not sure if I'm understanding you correctly (and yes, I have listened to those tracks) so yeah... lol

I think, this "effect" is manually added. You can get a nearly alike effect with routing all audio through a sidechain compressor and routing the noise into the sidechain input (and at the same time to the audio output of course). But I think, the effect is better, when you automate the volume of all sounds.
