Default Continuous note problem

Hi all, I'm a first time poster and am new to Reason and sound composition in general. So be gentle.

So I recently bought an Edirol PCR-500 midi controller, and before I got Reason, I had been using it well enough in Sonar. Reason is a much better program though, so I'd definitely want to use that. The problem I'm having though, with Reason 4.0, is that every time I play a note using the controller, it will have a continuous afterlife, never canceling out. When I try and just play a note using the mouse, it stops shortly after as it should. With the keyboard though, it's endless.

I reset the keyboard settings to their factory defaults as Reason suggests, and have tried mucking with a few things, but to no avail. Roland doesn't document anything about this in their Edirol manual, so I'm guessing it is some setting in Reason (since this does not happen at all with Sonar).

I'm dying to get into this program, and this silly little setting is just making it impossible to really do anything. Hopefully you can help, thanks in advance!

I've never heard of this problem. There must be something wrong with Reason or your keyboard. The Note-off signal seems not to be recognized correctly. I cannot imagine, how this could be. Maybe you should use MIDI-OX (freeware tool with ability to inspect, route, filter MIDI streams) to watch all incoming MIDI signals. Maybe some anomally occurs when you can see the sent data from your keyboard.

I just tried using the keyboard on a demo of FL Studio, and again there were no cancellation problems. Each note terminated just fine. It doesn't look like it's just me or my keyboard either, since there's another user on the Propellerhead website that's also having the same problem with the Edirol-Reason combination:

Hopefully someone has the answer!

Install this program and take screenshots or copy and paste text of what MIDI data is being sent when you press a note, so we can see what's going on.

Here's a shot of just a few random key strokes:

Well the Note Off data is definitely being sent. This'll probably sound really annoying but try re-installing your drivers and adding the keyboard to reason again.

Actually, this happened to me once or twice before, but it was only temporary, after hitting another note a couple of times it copped on. I think the problem fixed itself when I gave it mains power, it was just running off USB.

I have a friend who cited the same as well in regards to the power. I just don't think I should have to go out and buy an AC adapter for Reason when every other program seems to handle my Edirol just fine.
