You don't actually have to program the keys on dr. rex, I don't remember which octave starts slice playback but one of them does. It might be C3? Try around there, I know lower though changes the root pitch of the loop so be careful lol. Also, nn-xt can natively open up a rex file and it will map each individual slice to a key (again, I believe starting at C3). Beautiful thing, eh?

i hate to correct people (especially considering i might be wrong) but it hink i remember nnxt mapping the first slice to C1. anyway, to answer the OP's question, the is a way to do that. in the far, upper, right side of the screen (while in edit clip view) near the magnifying glass icons, there's a selector tool between rex view, piano roll view etc. you need to chose piano roll view, draw notes on the keys you want them to be triggered by, the change the root key in dr. rex. that, or i'm utterly and stupidly wrong and i'm imagining this |
