Using matrix

How come when i use the matrix it doesnt show notes being recorder when i go to "copy pattern to track". I thought that id be able to use the matrix to make a cool pattern, record it, then mess with it in the sequencer using the pencil. Thank for all the help so far guys

Maybe you selected the wrong sequencer track? You must select the correct track before you copy a pattern into it.
