When you add the axiom to your midi controller lists reason asks to insert a custom preset for the controller? Did you let it do that? Also there might be a problem simply because it's a vista driver, sometimes companies rush out these drivers even though they have bugs. Although I remember using my axiom on vista with no problem so I dont think its that.

Try dualbooting vista with XP. Vista is still having a lot of driver problems. It's also totally unneccesary.

I agree, xp is always handy to have on a partition, or at least virtually run it.
