| I updated my macOsX 10.3.9 security and my reason 3 prefers to not to work anymore. i ran the security update 2006-006 for system 10.3.9. After that, reason was damaged as well as my system "audioMIDIsetup" that started to work in a wrong way too. Other of my audio apps (live 5, etc) are unable to detect external midi, and reason just displays an horrible screen sayin' "failed to open MIDI support library (Application can not run)" and then just closes. I suppose that a system reinstall will put all things alright again, but i'm trying to find an easier and softer way, and then, want to know if the installation of "security update 2006-006" is involved in this business or if in case of reinstall, i can to update it however. thanks a lot! darboscalante Last edited by darbo; October 13th, 2006 at 19:39. |

Why wouldn't you reinstall reason? It doesn't get rid of any of your projects. That's really all I can say as I don't own a mac but why would you need a "softer" solution?

'Cause this is the problem: not only reason become damaged: all the midi system engine in the computer is affected. As i said in other posts, i use Ableton live too. Well, when you try to access midi devices in Ableton live this don't work neither. There is a mac native utility that manages both audio and midi devices and it doesn't works anymore too. When you try to make it work, it just shut down. I asked for a "softer solution" because i don't want to do all those things you should when backingup its necessary for reinstall process, can you figure it out? I been thinkin' about a mac-software-update demand. They make me lose precious time!!! Whatever, i found it, just reinstalling mac os x system using the software disc: in mac you can revert your system to the factory settings without formatting, selecting archive and install option in the installing window. All your files, settings and network settings are preserved. This is the softer solution. Then just up to date your Mac os X without installing Java's updates, alright? Darbo. Oh I see, Yeah see If you were using a pc I would just say use a restore point, I didn't know that system files within the mac was damaged, hope that works out. _SG_ |
