Default Thor Audio Input

Hi everyone,
I'm new in the forum and I hope to enjoy it as I'm enjoying Reason. :-)
I've got an issue with Thor and its audio inputs.
I would like to play an external audio sample using the NN-19 shaping it with the Thor filters and envelopes.
I enclosed the two devices in to combinator.
I connected the NN-19 out to the Thor audio IN and the Thor out to the device input in combinator.
When I play nothing comes out from Thor. I tried to connect NN-19 straight to the device IN (combinator) and everything is fine.
The manual says just few lines and maybe there's something I'm not doing properly such as:
----
You need to send a gate trigger for the audio signal to be heard. This can be done in three ways; by playing notes, via notes played by the Step sequencer or from CV gate signals.
----
Playing the keyborard, nothing is coming out.
I tried to send some gate signal using Scream4. Nothing.

What's wrong with what I'm doing?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Can you get a screengrab of your wiring?

Ahhhh where is the modulation part? lol.

I tried this upon reading your post but I couldn't quite get it either, I am reasonably sure it's got to have SOMETHING to do with the mod matrix though.

I guess, there is a misunderstanding about the audio inputs of Thor. They are NOT routed through the filters and effects of Thor. They are just available in the mod matrix as SOURCES of modulation. For example, you can use the signal to modulate the output gain of Thor, which will give a ringmod-effect.
Therefor, if you want the input to be routed through the filters, you have to set the mod matrix up to do this. Take audio input 1 as source and filter 1 audio input as destination. Then you can mix the audio input via the amount into the filter.

Default the manual doesn't say the same

Aaaahhhhh, the modulation didn't fit in the screenshot. :-)
Reason issue. :-p

So I cannot use an external audio as oscillator (tone generator) isn,t it?
The manual doesn't say the same, I copy-paste the few lines that we can read on it:

-------------

The 4 Audio inputs on the back panel can be used to connect external audio sources and process them with Thor’s parameters.
Note that when routing audio to the Voice section, the following things apply:
• There are only mono inputs in the Voice section.
• You need to send a gate trigger for the audio signal to be heard. This can be done in three ways; by playing notes, via notes played by the Step sequencer or from CV gate signals.

Routing audio to Global destinations does not require a gate trigger and
stereo inputs are provided.
The external audio sources can also be used purely for modulation, e.g.
you can modulate an oscillators pitch with an audio signal.
This way you can use the audio input source to modulate any available destinations.

------------------

Fro my purpose probably there's something I haven't done with the modulation parameters.
I'll try one more time hoping it will work.

Like I said in the second part of my post, you have to setup a modulation routing with your audio input as source and an audio input of a filter or amp or something as destination.

Default Yes it works

Yes, as you said in the second part of your post I tried and it works.
I was a bit confused with the internal oscillator that are hard wired with the output, while the signal coming from the audio In is not.
Obviously is a "modular" synth!
:-)

Thanks a lot for the help.

Cheers

Emanuele

Default The Terminator 4 Salvations

The Terminator franchise is what got me interested in the movies in the first place. The first was a suspenseful cyberpunk thriller, and the second became my favorite movie of all time. The third fell short of intelligence but still solid nonetheless, and the TV series was a good addition to the franchise. Nearing the end of May, the fourth and latest film addition of the beloved sci-fi franchise will open, and viewers are in for a sheer summer spectacle.
