Default Is it possible to have multiple sounds next to eachother on a midi board?

I find it quite hard making beats when i have to record the drum kick first, then go back and record the clap in place. Is there a way to have different sounds next to eachother on a midi board instead of just having one sound that creates different pitches when i press different keys?

Thanks!

The "different pitches" lets me assume, you use one of the sampler devices for you drums. right?
If you use the redrum for your drums, you have different samples for every MIDI note. The whole redrum is mapped to one octave on your keyboard.
If you still want to use a sampler like nnxt or nn19, you can setup small key zones which are just 1 note wide.

try playing the redrum on octave one on your keyboard... you'll get a pleasant surprise...
