Default dr. rex & hiphop production

hey guys ... few questions about a few things...

first of all ... dr.rex I just have come to understand what this does today.

basically I can take any sample and split it, then play it ? it's like a extended sampling tool right?

question is, what if i have sampled a wave file from some vinyl and i want to import it to dr.rex? is this possible?

second of all, i notice a lot of people who reply, reply with youtube vids ... any hiphop producers here who know of youtube members who usually submit helpful stuff?

thanking you in advance people.

You need to get Recycle to turn wav or aif files into DR.Rex loops. Yout create slices at each beat and you can vary the tempo this way.

imo AcePincter has the best tutorials on the tube but it's not specific to hip hop. If you want to learn A LOT though, his profile is the one to look up.

You could probably watch just about any hip hop tutorial for any app though and just apply the principles to Reason, it's not the hardest genre to write (technicality wise). It's all about the samples you're using.

Actually it does change, but it only changes the highlighted area of the slice.
The transpose button will change the pitch. Really no expert on Dr Rex, but the pitch knob affects individual slices. Move the slice to what part of the pattern you want to change then adjust the pitch just for that part. That way, you can individually adjust pieces of the pattern. If you want to change the pitch of the entire pattern, then use the transpose knob. Anyway, I think that's how it works.
