| Considering the fact that Redrum only lets you play a sound(in this case a bassdrum) in a constant note (where as the only way to change it is through pitch) how can I get a bassdrum in reason to rise and fall? Since my music lingo isn't on par with most of you. Lets say Redrum lets me play a wav in C3 and C3 only unless I change the pitch. I want to be able to rise from C3 to E3 and fall to B2. From what I've been seeing the only one I can do this in is the NN-XT just for the fact I can load *some* and I do only mean *some* wavs into a zone. If anyone has AIM/AOL let me know if you are able to help that way. I can make a quick and basic .rns that will show what I'm trying to attempt. Thanks for all help. |

I think it would be best to load your kick sample into either nnxt or nn19 and then automate the root note knob. The only way you're going to change the pitch in redrum is with the pitch knob, and what the actual pitch is when using that is pretty cryptic (to me at least). This way you could have something like this: o = kick o - - - o - - - o - - - o - - - 1 - - - 2 - - - 3 - - - 4 - - - 1 = Root note at default (C3) 2 = Root note down 5 notches from C3 3 = Root note up 1 notch from C3 (to make it B2) etc. Sorry if this is a bit hard to follow lol it's hard to explain in text. |

Thanks for posting info none the less. I'm willing to try whatever just to find ways of doing this. Surprisingly, tho exhausting, automation seems to be the best way of going about doing a lot of stuff in Reason. Thanks for reply.

Yes, but in your case you don't need to automate anything. It seems to me, that you just want to play a sample in different notes/pitches like in any other tracker software. This is easily done by loading your sample into an NNXT or NN19 and then just play notes with this device. This is the easiest use case for a sampler device. No need to automate anything.

This is what I was hoping for. It seems like I'm having a huge problem with me being able to grab wav samples out of refill files and such for that reason. I'll have an entire refill containing wavs and those same folders not yeil me any sounds once trying to open them through a zone within the NNX-T. I'll really only be able to open them via rex or redrum (holds me back so much). Does anyone know if there's a special way I have to go about getting the NNX-T to read my wav files or could I share a refill I have that doesn't let me open the wav so you can see if it gives the same occurance? Any help would be great man, this has been a heavy problem with me and this program since I was first introduced. |
