I tried to figure this out a while back and as far as I can tell this can't be done.

I don't see how. If it's not in Application Data or Program Files or something then it's not easily done.

The favorites folders and their contents (patch aliases/shortcuts) are stored in the reason preferences file along with other program settings. You can copy and backup this file by saving the Reason Preferences.prf file located in your C:\Documents and Settings\your_username\Application Data\Propellerhead Software\Reason folder.

But remember this - the favorites folder only stores aliases to patches. So after restoring your preferences file after reinstalling Reason, all of the aliases to patches saved in your favorites folder won't work unless the patches they link to are in the same places they were before. So if you have favorites patches stored in a number of different places on your hard drive(s), you need to copy all of those patch files back to their previously saved/aliased locations.

Default Favorites Backup

I too am trying the same; backup my fav's 'cause I have too many to track down again among all my refills! I read the reply on backing up/copying the .prf file. I've looked in the recommended directory, but I dont have a "Reason Preferences.prf" file... I DO however have a "Reason Data.dat" file in the directory. (I'm running Vista). Can anyone confirm that these 2 files are one in the same? I have all hidden files visible, and searched my hard drive extensively and I just dont seem to find the *.prf file. Thanks in advance!
