I'm a bit confused with what your after. We can't write a bass line for you on a forum.

Can you not find a single bass refill that you like or that suits your track.

Post you .rns file and let people have a go at laying down a bass track. Then you can have a look at what we did.

Never heard of the songs or artists.

You can use a hundred things for sub bass, you just need to isolate the right freq's. There are a lot of sub bass patches, just find one that's close and tweak it.

Sorry can't be bothered downloading the song

there are two parts to getting a good bassline -- well, three parts really

1. the sound -- you have to use eq or you are going to have problems. unless you have a perfect fit (and that NEVER happens) you just have to eq it. read up on eq tutorials -- eq will help smooth out any buzz, reduce low-end muddiness and give you a kick-ass sound

2. your time -- if you want a tight bass sound, you better have good timing. either be really good with your midi keyboard or draw in those notes.

3. your theory -- it doesn't mean shit if you don't have any theory to your bassline -- meaning understand the notes you are playing and how they fit with the chords -- i don't know if this is a problem for you or not, but the best sounding bass in the best time will ruin a song if you don't approach your bassline with a good idea of what function the bass is playing and how to theoretically work that out

take it from a bass player -- get yourself in order here and 99% of your worries re: basslines are gone.

In the NNX-t you just about use anything as bass (that of course sounds good) by turning down the octaves. Most pianos offer somewhat of a good bass tone.

Also, look in the subtractor of the stock reason sounds and look for RnB bass, and Hyperbottom. Those two usually work out really well for me.

Also, once you have the bassline down, you'll have to eq your lower/low-mid freq's to make sure the bassdrum doesn't mud out and distort your line. That's my current frustrations at the moment but I usually get all my songs right after a lot of messing around.

Another way to get a good sub bass is to not play only one note but to include the same into a different octave...

hope that helps.

Well, of course the bass also has to fit your song. Getting a good bass sound on one song and then using it in another may suck. I would say (along with the good advise above) that you find a bass line in a song that you like and then try to emulate it. I spent hundreds of hours listening to drums that I liked and then tried to copy.

With eq and maybe some compression, a good ear, and lots of patience, you should be able to get the desired sound.

Joe
