Default help with midi keyboard

ok so i havent got a proper midi keyboard...but i have got a Yamaha PSR-262 with midi capability.
so i got myself a usb to midi cable...
plugged it in
windows appeared to have installed it fine...

went into reason
preferences
other keyboards...
anyway its all goin fine til i get to the "midi input" selection
i press "find"
and it doesnt find anything when i press the keys on my keyboard

so...the question is..
how do i get reason to recognize my keyboard?
is it actually possible to use the keyboard with reason?
thanks in advance...

I'm not sure how the adapter works but I'd think that you'd need to also install drivers for the keyboard??? What adapter are you using? Whatever's happening it's got something to do with drivers.

You need an actual interface to go from MIDI to USB. A simple cable won't do it. If it is an interface made to look like a cable thats fine but you need to install a driver for it.

He has already said, that he uses a MIDI to USB cable (thus an interface) and has installed it succesfully under windows.

@lamby:
Can you select the MIDI input by hand? There's a listbox with all available MIDI inputs. Your interface should show up there.
The "find" and the "auto-detect" functions don't work everytime.
