I personally don't rewire at all. I usually just export my Reason mix to a stereo .wav and import it into Cubase. I am also contemplating using rewire, but it'll have to wait till I get a faster laptop. One of my friends rewires all the time and it does give him a lot of control over the individual tracks coming out of Reason; using VST effects on sounds etc. |

So do you export in multiple layers (drums, bass, leads, etc..) or the whole track with all the layers in it?

Usually I'll export the whole track as one stereo .wav file to record vocals to, as a reference track. Then once vocals are done, I'll go back into Reason and export each individual track as a seperate .wav file for mixing in Cubase. I find this helps to get vocals tracked more efficiently as there is no fiddling with instrument levels etc. during the vocal recording stage.

rewire is a huge resource hog ... if you all you are going to do in cubase is vocals exporting the instrumental as a .WAV is the best way ... rewire into cubase / sonar / nuendo used to be the only way to truly master a reason instrumental .. i used to rewire when i wanted to use mastering wav bundles or pop a plug in onto a particular sound but now i pre-master in reason export to wave lab and finish the job .. finally import the mastered .WAV into whatever program ready to bump feel me. www.seedlessstudios.com reason experts |

Yeh, i rewire Reason with Cubase coz i cant use all my effect plugins in Reason. And i dont wanna export separate tracks from Reason, then import them into Cubase to add effects. Bcoz if u have changed something in Reason u gotta repeat export/import operation over and over again to hear. If u rewire u can insert any effect plugins into a rewire channel that routed from Reason and at the same time work on instrumental or beat and listen to results with effects at once. |

Aló. "A faster laptop" I tried to edit waveforms in my laptop and ever wanted to know why it breaks down even i have putting new tracks, effects or automations. The reason why is because the Laptop HardDisk speed couldn't be up to 5400 rpm (while a desk pc disk runs about 7200 rpm). This is because any laptop is planned to save battery power, then, a faster 5400 rpm disk, would swallow energy of battery as a mustang '69 it's fuel. Anyway, i was lookin' for that faster disk in laptop model. I founded a lot of links like this: http://www.havelaptopwilltravel.com/...op-hard-drive/ Many people looks afraid of them faster disk laps get more hot than lower disk laps. Darbo, i hope this help. |

I am trying to use reason with rewire in cubase but my problem is that I can't rcord the audio from reason into cubase. Any tips? I have opened the reason device window and have the reason audio coming through as a stereo mix but the rewire channel does not give me the option to record. Do i have to route this into an audio channel before i can record?
