I started off with house/trance as well. Now producing some drum & bass and sometimes hip hop.

As for the trancy sounds. The person was referring to VST plugins. Reason does not (and will not) support VSTs.

But don't listen to people saying that you can't do this and that with Reason. It's complete BS. Reason can do everything, except recording audio. You just have to know how do it.

Of course, those people that use VSTs, just plug it in, select a preset and off they go. It's just easy, but at the same time it's not interesting. You might as well use Acid and bunch of wav loops.

Basically it comes down to preference. I prefer Reason, and I don't want anything else. I've heard awesome and different stuff produced in Reason and I am 100% convinced that everything is possible in Reason.
